If you have a full driving licence, are over 21 with two years’ driving experience and access to a vehicle, becoming a Devon Community Driver could be the perfect opportunity.

Devon Community Drivers, a joint project between Devon Communities Together and Devon Access to Services (DAS), is encouraging residents across Devon to become volunteer drivers and inviting Community Transport Schemes to join a new pilot programme designed to attract more volunteers.

Every year, volunteer drivers across Devon help thousands of people get where they need to be – from hospital visits and healthcare appointments to shopping trips, social groups and wellbeing activities. Last year alone, an incredible 106,561 journeys were provided by volunteers. For many people, particularly those living in rural communities, this support is essential in helping them stay independent, healthy and connected.

Become a Volunteer Driver

Community Transport Schemes across Devon are looking for more volunteer drivers to help keep these vital services running. Whether you're available once a month, three times a year or several times a week, every journey makes a difference. Volunteers can choose when and where they drive, with no minimum commitment required, and mileage is reimbursed.

Volunteer driving is ideal for people looking to give something back, meet new people, gain experience for their CV, or stay active while moving towards retirement. It may also suit people between jobs, new arrivals to Devon, hybrid workers, or anyone looking for a flexible way to support their local community. Anyone aged 21 or over with at least two years' driving experience is encouraged to register their interest through a simple online form.
