Broadclyst is governed by three tiers of council, which all have elected members:

In addition, were are represented in the UK Parliament by Exmouth and Exeter MP David Reed.
Each council has different roles and resposibilities that are shown below. These lists are not exhaustive and are only given as a guide. However, as well as the Parish Council's responsibilities, many additional activities are also taken on, on behalf of our parishioners.

Stakeholders
The above levels of Government do not include the large number of non-elected bodies who also govern our lives (e.g. Police, Health, Education).
The Parish Council has working relationships with many stakeholders and organisations, including the National Trust, the schools and Devon and Cornwall Police.
The National Trust is an important stakeholder with land and buildings throughout the Parish. The Killerton Estate surrounds the listed mansion Killerton House (which has its own garden and parkland) and consists of: 2,500 hectares of agricultural land; 20 tenated farms; and 250 houses and cottages, which are mainly found in the village of Broadclyst. Broadclyst Community Primary School (BCPS) and Clyst Vale Community College (CVCC) are both within Broadclyst village, with Westclyst Community Primary School (WCPS) in Westclyst.
BCPS, rated Outstanding by Ofsted, was founded in 1810 to serve the children of the local community. Still a community school, now with its own 40-place nursery, it has developed a local, national and international reputation for its innovative use of IT and digital media. It is part of the Cornerstone Academy Trust, as well as WCPS, a multi-academy trust that provides 21st century education across two schools as well as professional teacher training through the Cornerstone Teaching Academy.
CVCC, rated Good by Ofsted, is a science, maths and computing academy which also has a sixth form. The sixth form offers a range of level 3 courses, including level 3 vocational qualifications and re-takes for Mathematics and English language, if you are a full time student and did not achieve a grade 4 in these subjects.
