Tithebarn Residents Association

The Tithebarn Residents Association aims to provide a single point of information about the new ‘village’ of Tithebarn in East Devon, EX1.

We don't yet have a community centre so we meet at the local public house, the Black Horse Inn (///sprinter.washing.barman) who kindly lend us the room for our RA meetings.  We can wholly recommend the food so please show support to the venue if you get a chance by frequenting it and enjoying their drinks and cuisine.

The Association is run by volunteers who all live in Tithebarn.

What We Don’t Do

We aren’t responsible for anything. Not the roads, the dog poo, the bus services, the council tax. Not the parking situation nor the weather!

How we are funded

We don’t have any funding at all. However, we are able to raise funds though applications for specific projects from businesses, organisations and councils. For example, if we were to set up a Parent and Toddler group we would be able to apply for financial support from the Broadclyst Parish Council. They would consider our request and make a decision at the appropriate committee meeting, as per their community grant guidelines.

What We Do Do

We ask nicely because we are a pressure group. We see our role as co-ordinators of actions by residents, where locals can get support and feel empowered to bring about the change they wish to see.

How We Work

With that in mind, it is crucial that before you get involved you understand that we are all on the same side in wishing to bring about change. We do this by talking to those that do have responsibilities, and by working together with respect and co-operation amongst ourselves to create a harmonious place to live.

Practically, this will be achieved by:

  • working to improve the lives of our residents by helping them access social connections, active leisure, age appropriate clubs and suitable transport
  • forming support networks to help each other in times of need
  • creating interest groups to run and manage specific projects such as a youth provision
  • lower the cost of living for all by sharing advice, equipment, journeys etc.
  • reduce our impact on the environment

We meet every couple of months and meetings are open to anyone who resides in Tithebarn as defined by our constitution. This area is in the parish of Broadclyst, in East Devon and east of the M5.  Our meeting dates are online at Tithebarn.uk/Events
