The "Pot"

Let’s talk about the money - where does it all go and who funds it? Broadclyst Parish has a fantastic range of community groups who all take part in and benefit from the Fun Day. Broadclyst Parish Council covers the overheads and the event is planned and delivered by the Council's staff, along with Councillors Henry Massey and Chris Pepper.

All pitch fees, raffle money and dog show entries are put into the “Pot” (we hope granny can do without it for the day). Certain attractions such as Bouncy Castles, Liddicones Ice Creams and our other food and drink vendors donate a substantial percentage of their takings and we remain extremely grateful for their ongoing support for our community. The voluntary groups also pay in their takings from the day, and the whole lot is totalled up.

Later in the summer we hold a presentation evening (usually at the pub!) and all the money in the pot is shared between the community groups that contributed towards the pot and were involved in Fun Day. In the last three years over £16,000 has been returned to our community, which is then used to help keep local clubs, societies and associations going. Regular beneficiaries include 1st Pinhoe Scouts, 1st Broadclyst Guides/Brownies, Broadclyst Bowls Club, Gardening Club, Junior Football Club, Netball Club, Toddler Group, Twinning Association, Broadclyst VIPs, and Broadclyst W.I.
