Broadclyst Allotments

The Broadclyst Allotment Association allotments are in Station Road behind the existing National Trust Allotments. The land is owned by the National Trust who lease the land to the Parish Council. The Allotments are sublet to the 'Broadclyst Allotment Association' which is responsible for maintenance, allocating plots and collecting the rent.

The allotment association was established in 2010 and has a robust tenancy agreement to keep its appearance and behaviours to a good standard as it is over looked by local residences. The allotments have a growing community spirit with regular meetings and as of 2016 we now have a communal orchard area.

Rent

Rents are paid annually in advance and due on 1st March each year.

£20 per year for full sized plot; £10 per year for a half plot.
A full plot measures approx. 6m x 27m; half plot 6m x 13.5m.

A joining fee of £30 per plot is payable with the first rental payment. This is returnable at the end of the tenancy less any costs incurred by the association to return your plot to a good condition.

Public Liability Insurance. It is a requirement by the lease for each plot holder to have £ 5million cover, the allotment association organizes this at an additional cost of £3 per year.

Waiting List Policy change – Sunday 13th March 2016

At a Committee meeting on 13th March, the decision was made to temporarily close the Association’s waiting list. It was felt expectations were being set to high; with current churn rate at the allotments our existing list will take over five years to fulfil. The waiting list will reopen when it falls; a reasonable level notification of this will be via this web page. No new applications will be accepted until that time.

Note: Other allotments are available in the village run by the National Trust, in addition to new allotments which will be coming on line in Cranbrook and Westclyst in the near future for residents of those areas. .
