Our Neighbourhood Plan!

Broadclyst is writing its own Neighbourhood Plan!

The Neighbourhood Plan (NP) is a new type of plan.  It is a plan made by the community for the community and has legal weight.  It presents an opportunity for our community to have a say over our future, allowing us to set out local planning policies and strategies for the next 10 to 15 years.  The plan will give residents of Broadclyst Parish a strong influence over land use and when, where and what type of development can take place.

Over the next few months Broadclyst Parish Council's Steering Groups will split into sub-groups, each looking at specific area. These areas include such topics as Community needs, Housing needs, Planning, Business/Economy, protection of parks and open/green spaces, etc.. We are looking for team members to bring your their unique knowledge and areas of interest and expertise to the team, enabling the writing of a sound Plan which reflects the Parish's wishes.

Broadclyst Parish Council has secured funding to support the formation of the NP, and it will take approximately 2 years to carry out all the stages before eventually being voted in at a public Referendum. A Planning Consultant, Stuart Todd http://www.stuarttoddassociates.co.uk/ has been engaged to do the 'technical' side, actually write the policies and get the Plan to the point of submission to EDDC.

It is important to remember that the Plan, once adopted, becomes a legal statutory reference document in Planning legislation, unlike a Parish Plan. It is therefore drawn-up to be in conformity with the National Planning Policy Framework (N.P.P.F.) and East Devon's Local Plan (LP).
