The Internet, What’s App and GDPR

The number of issues that originate or are seriously inflamed by young people's use of social media continues to increase. Small disagreements and fallouts within friendship groups are often amplified by social media until they become more serious issues.

Recent changes to Data Protection in the country have seen the introduction of the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), in light of which WhatsApp have increased their user age to 16.
You may well wish to have a conversation with your child about the implications of this change. There‟s a wealth of good advice available online for parents and carers. The links below may prove helpful.
